Lira City East,Uganda | Residents of Lira City East are facing severe disruptions following heavy rainfall that has rendered key roads impassable, particularly along the stretch from Boke Adidikgweno to Ireda Chambers, near .
The downpour, which intensified over the past hours, has caused significant flooding across the area, with water levels rising high enough to submerge sections of the road. Community members say movement has become nearly impossible, leaving many stranded and businesses temporarily paralyzed.
Eyewitnesses report that drainage systems in the area have been overwhelmed, forcing rainwater to spill onto the roads and nearby premises. Pedestrians and motorists alike have been forced to turn back or seek alternative, often longer and less routes.
Local residents expressed frustration over what they describe as recurring flooding whenever heavy rains hit the city. Some called on authorities to urgently intervene by improving drainage infrastructure and providing immediate relief to affected communities.

“This road becomes unusable every time it rains heavily. We are suffering because we cannot move, and some homes are already being affected by the water,” one resident said.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by city authorities regarding the situation. However, the community is urging quick action to restore accessibility and prevent further damage, especially if the rains continue.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns about urban planning and flood management in rapidly growing parts of Lira City.
